Remember when I posted that I would be using Coconut Oil as my daily moisturizer? Well, I heard your feedback loud and clear (on the blog and on instagram posts). Coconut Oil hasn't worked well for many of you as a daily moisturizer. Many of you explained that when using it that often (daily or close to it) it leads to dry brittle hair. And instead of pushing full steam ahead with my plans because they seem to make perfect sense to me in my head (like I did after the warnings you gave me about using ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo every week), I am heeding your warnings this time. I appreciate you all for helping to steer me in the right direction -- towards my healthy hair goals. I trust you, so I'm listening.
Additionally, these three blog posts on the subject (see blog posts one, two and three) backed what you all were saying. If I didn't take your warnings seriously after that I'd be a little more than stubborn. If you checked out the three posts, they lead to the conclusion that coconut oil doesn't work well for some, especially as a daily moisturizer. Daily use adds too much coconut oil which swings the pendulum past the point of maximum benefits and into the arena of dry and brittle hair. I don't want that so rather than try (and possibly/most likely fail), I'm going to be using my Vatika Enriched Coconut Oil as my pre-poo/hot oil treatment instead. I've never heard anyone complain about it when used in that capacity and I've already used it for two wash days so far with no complaints on my part.
Now that I'm not using coconut oil as a moisturizer and I'm not overly excited about using my other hair moisturizers, I went out a bought a new moisturizer to try: Jane Carter Solution Restore Moisture Mist. I've only used it once, but so far I am a big fan.
Have any of you used this as your moisturizer? Thoughts?
